I was having some issues with my volume to not be responding so I decided to do a restart on my phone. After the restart was completed all of my home screen apps disappeared with the exception of two that I added today. I performed a restore but nothing came back. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what was the solution?

Hello, not sure if you are still having this issue or not, I ran into it today myself. I found a resolution on technipages except for me in the reset home screen launcher the app I cleared cache/data from was called "ONE UI HOME"; once the app launcher worked again I then restored my home screen from the most recent backup, and everything is back in its place and working properly. Best of luck to you.

Cheers,

1. Restart

If you haven’t tried to restart the device yet, give that a try. Press and hold the “Power” button, then select “Restart“. In many cases, the Home screen will refresh and the icon(s) will return.

2. Reset the Home Screen Launcher

This step will reset your home screen completely and is only recommended if disappearing icons is a continuous problem.

  1. Go to “Settings” > “Apps & notifications” > “App info“.
  2. Select the app that handles the launcher. The app we are looking for will differ depending on the device. Looks for something related to or contains the words “Home” or “Launcher (Example: Nova Launcher). If you have a Samsung device, it may be called “TouchWiz“.
  3. Select “Storage“. then choose “Clear data“.

Icons Disappear from App Launcher 1. Restart

If you haven’t tried to restart the device yet, give that a try. Press and hold the “Power” button, then select “Restart“. In many cases, the Home screen will refresh and the icon(s) will return.

2. Ensure App is Not Disabled

Under “Settings” > “Apps & notifications” > “App info“. Choose the app that goes missing, and ensure the app is not disabled.

Me, too..but the shortcuts disappeared,  not apps. $635 for a Samsung A71 5G and this happens? Ridiculous.

I had the same problem with the exact same phone.  If you go into settings and select apps, you'll see all your apps that are missing from the home screen and main app menu are still installed.  Also, if you haven't disabled your side menu for quick access from the home screen you can place your finger on the right side of your screen and swipe left.  This will show you your recently closed apps (only two or three) as well as a shortcut menu.  At the bottom left of this menu, you can open your apps and they will all be there with their icons.  However, in my case, the problem was simply the game launcher app.  I noticed that it was only game apps that were hidden(missing icons).  I opened game launcher from the app menu and opened settings.  It was set to only show games in the launcher as a default setting.  I had to change this so my games would be visible on the home screen and main app menu.  This fixed the issue.  So check your app settings.  You might have one that controls what you see on your home screen and app menu also.

You are a lifesaver. I noticed my games were missing yesterday and was struggling to work out why. After reading your comment I checked my games launcher and sure enough, the settings had defaulted to showing games in the games launcher only.

Thanks!

Thanks for the help. Found the problem in Game Launcher app. Go to the Settings wheel.
