How to fix phone page shutting down.

When using phone with keypad page open, page   repeated closes after 4 or 5 seconds.  This is not an update anomaly, it has always been  like that. It is annoying  when on a call that requires access to keys (press number for something) and there is no page there to press the number buttons.

My question: Is there a setting to increase the time before timeout?

4 or 5 seconds was only a guess. Maybe 10 or 12.

I am aware the time can be extended manually with the side key and by double tapping the screen, but that is an unsatisfactory method.

you mean screen turns off when using the phone?

it's normal behavior to protect from accidental touch.

Unfortunately a "feature" since the Note 8. 

Often discussed, but I haven't seen any solution.

I just called our automated weather number, put it on speaker, opened the keypad and stayed on the line for 3 minutes. I know you said earlier you're not talking about how the screen turns off but the only thing that happened to me was the screen dimmed after 10 seconds and turned off after 30 seconds. This isn't what you mean?

Yes, that's exactly what I mean, except mine df tjrims and immediately turns off.
What I would like is for the screen to not dim or turn off for about 2-3minutes by default, or to have user control of the timing.
