Galaxy S20UPDATE: I tried using different messaging applications, and I've confirmed I have the same issues as described below. Essentially the phone will "switch" to a vibrate mode (even though all settings remain the same indicating sound should play for alerts). I've also confirmed that receiving a phone call temporarily reverts the notifications back to expected working order (i.e.: sound plays). However, this lasts for a seemingly random/non-specific amount of time before going silent again.
Extremely frustrating and making me wish I had went away from Samsung to the Pixel when I had the chance. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
Galaxy S20 5G - Software Version: G981USQU1CUA3
I started having an issue today (after 6 months with the phone) where my notifications sounds stopped playing. No changes were made, sound is on, and notifications were working earlier this morning. I tried restarting my phone multiple times and notifications always temporarily work again after the restart, but always reverts to acting as if it was on vibrate after several minutes. I've also turned on notification reminders and those appear to work.
The last software update was a few days ago, and I didn't really do anything on my phone before the issue started happening. I did connect it briefly to the bluetooth in my truck, but I've done that many times in the past.
Things I've tried: Restarting the phone, Turning off bluetooth, reviewing all sound settings
Has anyone experienced this issue/does anyone know a resolution? I've seen many other posts, most older, but none of the solutions so far seem applicable to me.

Galaxy S20Having the same issue with my Galaxy S20 Ultra. I've tried the same things but having no luck fixing it. I typically get sound for 1 or 2 notifications and it goes silent afterwards. Seems to have started doing this after installing the latest update.

Galaxy S20UPDATE: Never mind - It is not the app. I installed Textra for better features and to avoid this issue and now the issue came back. It must be something with the OS after all.
----------------------------
I was thinking this was an issue with all notifications, but I've been troubleshooting more and I now think I've isolated it to text messages now. I'm using the Google "Messages" app rather than the default app. I was able to restore (I don't know for how long) notifications by force stopping the application. I'm presuming the application automatically updated and this issue began occurring.
If you're also having issues with specific app notifications, you may be having a similar issue (either the OS updated and the apps did not yet or a recent app update caused an issue). If your issue is global to all notifications, it may actually be different from what I'm not observing.

Galaxy S20I am having the same issue on the S20+ 5G. Notification sounds are on and working fine, and then suddenly no notification sounds will be played. If per-app settings have vibration on, the notification will still vibrate. A temporary fix is to go into sounds settings and select a ring tone or notification sound, even if it is the same one already selected. Because this temporarily fixes the issue, it is clear that this is not due to user error. Either there is a system-wide issue or a misbehaving app. Bug reports via the Samsung app are getting me nowhere. They just respond with generic responses or tell me that my issue is unclear and the bug reports don't show anything.
Between this issue, the lack of visual voicemail on Google Fi until recently, and the weird wifi issue on mesh networks due to random MAC address settings, I also regret going with the S20 over a Pixel 5 after owning a Pixel 1 and 3. I'm considering eating a couple hundred bucks and switching back to something a little more reliable and predictable, or maybe wait it out until the Pixel 6.

Galaxy S20I would recommend clearing the cache partition on your phone?
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
- An 'Installing system update' message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight Wipe cache partition.
- Press Bixby / Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes, then press the Bixby / Power key to select.
- When the process is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Bixby / Power key to restart the device.

Galaxy S20Do you experience these symptoms if you you test your device in safe mode? If your phone is misbehaving, it's possible that a third-party app is causing the issue. To figure out what app is acting funny, you can use the Safe Mode feature. In Safe Mode, your phone won't run any third-party apps. This allows you to easily identity and remove the app that may be causing the problem. Give this link a try: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062983/
Are you experiencing these symptoms with all apps or specific apps?
