I have tried 2 different S20+ phones and on both the volume for notifications keeps resetting to the default level. This happens after ever restart and randomly a couple times during the day. It makes no difference if the control media with volume control is on or off. Has anyone else experienced this?

Check your Bixby routines. It resets the volumes when the routine changes

Bixby has not been turned on and Bixby routines are turned off.  I still get the reset.

Count me in as having the same issue. Quite annoying to have the notification randomly increase. I really hope a fix appears soon.

I figured it out. It was Bixby Routines that was chaning volume.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Search Bixby Routines.
3. Click Bixby Routines.
4. Click on Bixby Routines again (the one which says On or Off).
5. Click on Home.
6. Click on Sound mode and volume.
7. Adjust to the appropriate levels then click Done.

Repeat process for each routine in use.

This will fix the issue. You can also just turn off the routines altogether.

The suggestion to factory reset is ridiculous. As some of you may have tried already, a factory reset will not fix the problem.

SOLUTION. Thank you so much. I guess it's one of those situations where poor development means "it's not a bug, it's a feature."

Hi Guys, not sure if this is the case but it seems to have worked for me.

I realized that under Advanced Settings -> Bixby Routines there was a profile there for when I was at home and had preset levels on volumes.  This was why the volume kept "changing" for me since after I adjust, I come home and it sets it back to the predetermined sound level.

Does this issue still happen when your phone is in safe mode?

Have you tried clearing the cache partition your phone?

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  3. When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
  4. An 'Installing system update' message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight Wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Bixby / Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes, then press the Bixby / Power key to select.
  8. When the process is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Bixby / Power key to restart the device.

I continue to have the same issue on my S10 Note plus. notifications may be at a normal level and then at maximum volume followed by a normal tone again. it is frustrating to be in a meeting and have my phone divert attention to me.

Yep, new s20 note ultra, same problem.  And doing a factory reset is the stupidest solution I've ever heard.
