Notification sound for text messages stopped working.

The notification sound for incoming text messages stopped working. How do I fix this issue?

Tap and hold on messages app icon and then on the pop-up tap "i" mark. Then go to notifications and look at settings to make sure all is good. Then while in there, go to notification categories and make sure new messages or incoming messages toggles are turned on.

check that the notification volume is not set to mute in the sound panel, go to settings > apps > select 3 lines with down arrow and 'show system apps' > search 'android system'      check that the notification is allowed
