Galaxy S20Hi HollowKing,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I totally agree. That's the fastest. But I am looking for a solution where I don't have to take the phone out of my pocket. In meetings, I can't very often take out the phone when I am talking to my counterparts and look at the screen. So I need a solution where I can do it with the volume controls and the hand in my pocket while being able to keep eye contact with my partners.
Best regards
Eichelober

Galaxy S20In Routines, you could add multiple "if" conditions like time period (probably your working hours) and notification receieved/message received, then select vibrate or silent mode in Sound node and volume.
Or, set a work mode and let it turn on automatically and set sound mode and volume to vibrate/silent.
Edit: you could also install RegiStar from Goodlock and set side-key press and hold to mute/unmute all volumes

Galaxy S20Install Rountines+ from Goodlock. Go to Modes and Routines then setup something like this screenshot. You could setup similar thing but for volume up button to change back to sound mode.

Galaxy S20Dear userZNnTdcqwZP,
First of all, sincere apologies for my long radio silence. I had some private issues to solve.
Then, let me thank you very much for suggesting this interesting work-around! That would work indeed π.
I find it still quite disappointing though that there is no way to simply press the volume down button several times when in lock mode to silence the phone's ring/notification tone. As I said, my old Motorola could easily do this...
Many thanks nevertheless and warm regards
Eichelober
