Issues with Samsung S20 FE phone on O2 , brought on the evening of last lockdown and really disappointed in this phone , everyone who phones cannot hear me and end up texting instead , I can hear them perfectly , is there a fault with these phones . Feel like putting sim back in old Samsung edge which had no problems

Sounds like a faulty device - take it back where you got it immediately while it's under warranty. No, there is no "fault with these phones" generally - as that would be a serious problem if everyone had this issue (I have the same phone and don't have that issue).  But, there obviously is a fault with your phone. 

I don't know how long you had it like that, or if you can return it right now, but I'd do so as soon as you can and get a replacement.
