S20+ won't mount external card reader

When I connect an external SD card reader with the Samsung OTG adapter my s20+ will not mount or detect the device. The problem is not the card reader or the SD card because I can successfully mount them in three other devices (Galaxy tab S2, ZTE phone and a Windows 10 PC) I've tried. Connecting a regular USB drive mounts no problem.

Samsung chat suggested several fixes such as restarts, booting into safe mode, etc all with no success. The last resort was a factory reset which did fix the problem but after a day or two it has reverted back to the same issue.

If anyone has a permanent solution for this I would love to hear it otherwise I need a moderator to report this so it can get fixed in an update. I'm really disappointed that my new flagship Samsung smartphone can't perform this simple task.

@userhoHv0CdxW5 make sure the SD card is formatted as exFAT not NTFS.
