USB C Earphones Don't Work

Got my S20 a few weeks ago. I mostly use Bluetooth earphones so I hadn't tested the USB C AKG earphones included yet.

Yesterday I needed to make a hands-free phone call and didn't wanna use Bluetooth earphones as they were much lower voice quality than the AKG 3.5mm earphones I had with my Note8, so I opened the new earphones and connected. The person I was making the call to said that my audio sounded terrible with A LOT of static.

Today I plugged in the earphones again to listen to music while my wireless ones were charging, the audio was bad, very tinny and lacking any base, then they suddenly stopped working. The phone says that it has charging the attached USB device.

Every now and again they will reconnect, then stop again.

Things I have tried

  • Using the headphones on two other phones. Note 9 and A5 (2017), neither recognized the earphones.
  • Updating phone
  • Using the phone in safe mode
  • Downloading the Samsung ANC Type-C app
  • Clearing the system cache

I am not willing to do a hard reset of the phone.

Any advice?

Re: USB C Earphones Don't Work

note 9 doesnt support type c earphone.
try use ur same earphone on different s20, or try different earphone to ur S20 if possible.

I think it might be the earphone issue..

Re: USB C Earphones Don't Work

Used my partners 3.5mm to USB C adapter earphones on my S20, they worked fine.
