Galaxy S20My issue is lack of data on 5G even with full bars using T-Mobile. Everything has been done from reseting carrier settings to clearing cache partion. After around 2-3 weeks of this problem (which will make sense in a minute), I've been informed by Tmobile tech support that my Baseband and Firmware versions are not up to date.
The last software update was released 2-ish to 3 weeks ago with build number G986U1UES1BTK1 being the latest released 11/25/20.
My build number is G986U1UES1BTJ2 which corresponds to a software update from 11/01/20, nearly a month prior.
This would explain the lack of data on 5G on my network, which is the only possible explanation at this point from what TMobile tech support tells me and what they think.
Since my phone is not carrier specific, it should receive it's updates directly from Samsung, yes? The T-Mobile specific build numbers are totally different online, so which ones am I supposed to receive? Why haven't I gotten my update yet?
My phone, my brother's same model number s20+, and my friend's same model number s20+ (all unlocked versions) are behind nearly 20 days on our software update.
I've called Samsung technical support, and (the poor English talk-to-fast) "technicians" are of no help. They just want to tell me how to back up my device and take my phone into a repair location. This will not solve the problem. I called the repair store, and they can't tell me what build number my phone will be flashed to. (Telling me the build number is Android 10 really goes to show how little faith we should have in Samsung and Samsung repair locations).
Does anyone have a solution to late arriving updates? I'm well aware the android 11 update got pushed back, but the already released update hasn't made it to my phone or any other s20+ owner I personally know. Each of us have no 5G data even with full bars of 5G.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Galaxy S20In order for Samsung to release an update for unlocked phones, they have to make sure that it will work with all carriers involved, not just one. Since T-Mobile is having issues, those of us with an unlocked S20 (all versions) will have to wait a bit longer.

Galaxy S20The issue with us having unlocked models is that once we install the carrier SIM card on our phones, they become CSC ( Country Specific Code ) specific and updates are released based on the network you're with.
For Tmobile the CSC is "TMB" and the latest software release for TMB is G986U1UES1BTJ2.
The software version G986U1UES1BTK1 that you mention was released for Verizon CSC code "VZW" and the not carrier specific phones with CSC "XAA" and USA "USC"
Because you're on the Tmobile network and Tmobile hasn't released the BTK1, most likely you're not going to get it soon and specially because the Android 11 is set to re-release soon. But you do have the option to search for the BTK1 software online, download it and flash your phone manually.
Personally, for me it's easier and faster to download the software and do the installation manually.
One question, do you know if you have the new Tmobile SIM card with a red "r15" stamped in the card? because I was also having that issue with Tmobile network until I update the SIM card..
Good luck

Galaxy S20Straight up, you've been the most help to me these passed 2 weeks, my friend. Thank you. You're more knowledgeable about this stuff than any of the T-Mobile, Samsung, or I Break You Fix so called "tech support" I've been talking to for over 16 days now. Considering the painfully atrocious Samsung tech support phone calls I've had, I'm super glad you're able to clear all this up within minutes of just reading your post.

Galaxy S20Hello there. I know I'm a bit late on this conversation, but I too am having problems with the latest (Android 11/One UI 3.0) update. On my Factory Unlocked S20+, I downloaded the update when I was notified, but now I cannot connect to the T-mobile network unless I'm on WiFi.
The software version I have is G986U1UEU1CTKJ, which isn't mentioned in this thread anywhere. I'm willing tomanually flash the phone, but need instructions on how to get the release for my phone/carrier, (S20+, factory unlocked, carrier T-mobile) and how to install it. Perhaps from the recovery menu, I did see something about an installation from SD card when I was resetting the phone.
I have discovered that if I put in an old Verizon SIM in the phone, it will allow me to dial #611 and reach a verizon automated attendant with WiFi turned off, so I'm thinking that the Verizon sim is giving me data, but when the T-moble SIM is inserted, the carrier fails. It does show the correct APN info though. The SIM works fine in my iPHone 11 Pro.
Any ideas? Do I have a $1k doorstop at this point?
