Some areas do not have 5G coverage yet, you should be able to check with your carrier to see if there is 5G in your area

5G is being built it's in select cities you have to be within a close vicinity of a 5G transmitter it's not like 4G with a big tower it's more local infrastructure major cities get it first it'll be a while before it stretches out to rural areas.

@olddudeinms It could be due to several reasons, some are:

  • you aren't in an area where 5G signal is offered by your carrier
  • your plan with your carrier doesn't include 5G

This is an issue to address with your carrier.

Check your carrier's coverage map. Each carrier typically has a map showing what is where. For example:

https://www.att.com/5g/coverage-map/

https://www.verizon.com/coverage-map/

https://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/coverage-map
