All I show is the default sounds and doesn't give me the option to access all my custom sounds. This is for text messages.  That is the only app i want to change. My S10e shows the same files and allows me to pick from anything in the Ringtones folder. Any help appreciated

I've been using this app to generate and save custom sounds. You have to copy the mp3 to your sound notifications in the appropriate format and location within the My Files app.

I went to the Play Store and it told me that the App you suggested, won't work with my version of Android OS

Have you tried Zedge
It has tons of ringtones and notifications sounds. You can assign them right in the app.
It also has wallpapers, etc. Some adds not too bad. I think it's 4.99 for one year to remove adds.
Maybe that will help you

I gave Zedge a try and I was unable to figure out how to use my existing sounds. There was no way for the app to look at what I already had in my Audio files. I removed the app. Thanks for the suggestion

Check and see if there is a plus "+" sign on the picker menu.  On my Verizon Locked I can add files from most other folders, and I specifically use the Downloads folder for my text sound.

I don't see the '+' anywhere. I also tried saving the mp3 file into the download folder and it still

doesn't show anything. Here is what I see when I go into Notification sound. I get no options to add or search or anything like that, it just shows the default sounds that I can use for text messages.

And just to add to this, the phone is a Galaxy S21 FE 5G, Model SM-G990W2, One UI version: 5.1, Android version: 13.
