Clock is now small and shows dimmed home page

I changed my wallpapers for the first time in a couple of years. Prior to changing them I was able to have my clock large when it was in just resting position. Now it is very small and shows my home screen dim with the very small clock above it. I use my phone at night as a clock, so to speak, as it stands on its charger. Now I can't read it as night due to the small size. I went to wallpapers and chose none, but nothing happens. If I tap the clock and image it opens to the actual lock screen where it has my options of facial recognition or fingerprint. What am I missing here?

Long press on the clock and make it larger.

Thank you for your reply. I am able to resize it in the actual Lock Screen but, it's the screen before that where I am having problems. When my phone is at a total rest it used to show JUST the Time. Maybe that's not the clock. It shows the time and it would slightly move every few minutes or so. Now when I tap that screen it then goes to the actual lock screen for facial or fingerprint.

You mean on the AOD (Always on Display)
To have control of your clock on the AOD if you download Good Lock from the Galaxy Store and then download LockStar and ClockFace modules you will have more control of both the Lockscreen and AOD to basically do what ever you want to do.
Example: this screen shot is my lockscreen and the other pic is my AOD. I used widgets to achieve my look.
