Galaxy S21After my S21 was updated to Android 13 I noticed a drastic loss of audio quality in Bluetooth playback. Both in my earbuds (Anker Soundcore Life A2 NC) and in my headphones (Bose NC700) you notice a high distortion of the sound as if it plays at 96kbps. This problem happens regardless of the app used (Spotify, Deezer, Samsung Music). This problem did not occur on Android 12. My mother's Samsung M52 suffers from exactly the same problem after the update to Android 13.

Unfortunately, if the troubleshooting article did not help I recommend letting a service technician have a look. As we would like to gather additional information and look at this from a case by case basis please provide the full model code and the serial number of the device as well as your best contact phone number, name, and email.

Hi there! I can see how inconvenient it is to have distorted audio when listening to music. Here's what I would try to help correct this behavior:
First, let's try clearing your device's cache partition. You can do so by pressing and holding volume down and power buttons until you see the android logo. From there, once the menu for recovery mode comes up, use the volume up and down keys to scroll to the option for clearing your cache partition. You then simply select it with the power button.
If after the cache partition clear you are still experiencing the distorted audio, next thing to try is resetting Bluetooth settings. Navigate to Settings > Apps > tap the Sort icon > tap Show System Apps > tap OK > find and tap Bluetooth > tap Storage > tap Clear Data
If that didn't help, you can see if a third-party application may be the culprit. You can use this guide for Safe Mode: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062029/
If it still behaves the same in Safe Mode, it may be time to get your device a factory reset. Before doing so, back up all your data using this guide: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00060517/
The guide for factory reset: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062029/
The surrounding environment may affect Bluetooth connection. Abrupt movement or distance between the devices may interfere with the connection as well. Connection might also be interrupted if you’re in a crowded area, or if you’re using metallic stickers or a protective cover near the antenna of your device.
- Keep both your Galaxy device and Bluetooth headset close to you, and make sure there’s nothing in between them.
- The connection may be unstable if the device is in your pocket or your bag, so keep the device close to your headset.
- Move away from crowded areas or a spot with frequent Wi-Fi usage.
- Keep away from bare cables, microwave ovens, and wireless speakers, or turn off such gadgets if you must be near them.
- When streaming music online, the connection status may affect the sound quality. In this case, try downloading music to play.

Galaxy S21Hi again,
I tried everything you suggest. Even before I make the question here I tried the factory reset. However, it did not solve the problem. Is this a known bug of OneUI 5? Because there's another thread reporting the same problem on S21 FE and A53: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S21/Distorted-sound-on-headset-and-Bluetooth/td-p/2470615
