New Samsung Galaxy s21 - initially set up with Smart Switch to transfer over data from old Samsung phone.
I noticed apps like Facebook and the Messages/Texting app kept crashing upon trying to open.
Tried to check for software updates, checked for application updates, checked the applications settings & device optimization as recommended in other community posts
Backed up my info, factory reset the phone, the only info I transferred was contacts from my Samsung account & the issue is still happening.
All apps up to date, all software is up to date. Anyone else receiving these consistent issues? Could this possibly be my device & may need a replacement?
Mainly posting here to get the word out & see if this a bug that Samsung needs to push a fix for in a new patch.
Other than these issues, the S21 has been working smoothly & accurately. Will report back with any additional issues.
it's not the Facebook app. it's the device. I have had this issue for the past few years with the last 4 upgrades!! it always does this the first few weeks until the next update comes. out.
@xoawesoME do you have evidence it is the phone itself? It seems far more likely to me that the app is not compatible with the phone than the other way around, and after the app receives the necessary update, it works fine.
yes the evidence is this is the 4th upgraded device I have received and have had this issue. its not only Facebook app, it does it with phone calls and several other apps as well. a lot while I am on the phone, service is perfect, but it force ends my call.
actually I think I found the root cause of this .. holding my phone portrait style.. and when my right thumb touches the bottom right corner of my phone.... if I am using the internet or facebook.. etc I am on / in it will jump back to the top or the first page...
sensitive little corner there... any one else want to test this out..
just use your phone as normal and when it happens.. before moving your fingers look at where they are at...
I know with the s9 and 10.. if you place ur finger over the charging port at the bottom. you would get the moisture error after a bit.. so I am sensitive to where my fingers are.. but at the same time.. seems like holding this phone vs my 10+ is totally different not sure what it is just yet.. as this is bigger than the 10 just can't place my fingers comfortably and my one thumb likes that right corner...
maybe the case that is supposed to arrive today will help lol
