Issues with Galaxy S21 Type-C Headphones

I use original Samsung type-C headphones. I plug them to my new Galaxy S21 device and able to hear audio and music with the headphones. Whenever I initiate an outgoing call, the audio in the headphones is gone and I can't hear the call. The call partner can hear me so microphone still works.  When I unplug the headphones I can hear the call using the device and after re-plugging headphones I can finally hear the call through headphones. If I don't unplug and re-plug, no audio or music can be heard even after the call. Audio in headphones is gone after every dial and also after the end of an incoming call. This has been reproduced with 3 different Samsung original headphones. Problem is also reproduced in device safe-mode. Android and USB-C driver updated to latest versions. Any advice would be appreciated!

Do you have earbuds to test with? If yes, do they work as expected?

I don't have earbuds but audio and calls over bluetooth in the car seem to work as expected.

Good, so that establishes that calls using wireless devices works.

BTW, although I don't have "dedicated" USB-C earbuds, I bought two Samsung USB-C to headphone jack converters for my wife and I, since we have wired earbuds with the 3.5mm plug - they are about $10 usd. (see photo)

I mention this because if you DO have wired 3.5mm earbuds, you could buy the converter and test if the earbuds work ... that will tell you if the headphones are somehow incompatible.

I actually do have such a set of 3.5mm headphones and a USB-C converter.  When using this set, the described issue is not happening. However, a different issue appears in which call partners complain they hear echos of their speech 😞

I just got a notification about a firmware update of "Samsung USB-C headset". Applying the update has resolved the issue!!! 🙂
