Message notification don't work

My message notification is not indicating that I have a message.  I will have to open the message app and see that I have a message.  I have tried doing everything in the settings for the message notifications .any suggestions!

Go to your Settings > Notification > Advanced Settings. Select the first option and this should show that you have a message I'm referring to the message icon that you can see next to the time/clock. 

Otherwise try going to settings > apps > messaging app that you're using > and make sure that notification is not Blocked.

Thank you I did all of that even went as far as reset my settings. And still the same.

Try clearing the app cache. If still no good, try repairing apps in the startup Recovery Mode.

I clear the cache , and I also reset all settings on the phone. It's still the same so I just downloaded another message app
