Messenger

Keep getting a message saying Messenger is using data because WIFI IS BLOCKED (forget exact wording). WIFI is connected as evidenced by the WIFI ion. Anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.

Since Messenger is a Facebook app, you may want to check with their developers.
