Not able to access my camera roll in my messages app

I used to be able to access my camera and camera roll within my messages app. The icon is still there but only the camera comes up.

I'm sorry, do you mean when you are in messages and tap camera that besides being able to take a.pic you could also see one picture at a time I. Order of taking them?

To the left of the text box is the plus sign for gifs and also the camera icon and picture icon together. In the past when clicking on the camera and pic icon... The live camera would come up but I could swipe left and my camera roll would be there to choose from. Just started. Thank you

Im sorry on my phone to the left of the text box I have camera symbol and a pic symbol..I have 2 separate ones.

I was using a third party app for messages as I liked some of the features. But... You got me thinking so I switched to the default app and as you said... There are two options. Thanks!

And on mine is the plus symbol then the pic and camera combined into one image. Thanks for trying.
