I moved away from Samsung after the Note 3 and went over to Motorola. I had a number of good years with Moto but Lenovo began taking away the features I moved over to them for. So when I saw that even as a current Verizon customer I could get a S21 Ultra w/512K for a $600 discount I jumped ship back to Samsung.
I see most of the posts are exclaiming outrage over the lack of removable storage and over the years my microsd card has become a place to hold a bunch of files I hardly ever use because of my use of cloud storage to keep all my photo's and music. Will I miss having the perceived security of having those files on a memory card and the definite ease of moving it from phone to phone? Sure, but by getting a phone with 512k I'm not really impacted. I do realize that this may be a legitimate deal breaker for some but with the way I use my phone it isn’t...especially at the discounted price.
To me I interpret the lack of a charger as Samsung just being cheap and thinking that they can get away with it because of Apple but in reality it's of no impact to me. I have more chargers than I can shake a stick at and I think I'm going to go wireless since I also have wireless in my truck.
It's been so long that you've forgotten but the one feature that I really miss is the removable battery and I really wish that would come back.
I'm excited and hopeful that Samsung will take Google and Qualcomm up on their plans to ensure that operating system boosts for new SoCs, beginning with the 888, are available for a longer period of time, four (4) years.
Other than the Camera Mod for my Moto I haven’t had a good phone camera in years so I'm looking forward to that with the S21.
And of course I'm excited to experience the performance and display boost that the S21 Ultra will give me over my previous phones...This will be the first real flagship I've owned since my Note 3.
Admittedly had I not stumbled upon the Verizon deal I would probably not have considered the phone but at that price even with feature issues I couldn't turn it down.

I hope you enjoy your new S21; with the limitations you mentioned: 8 gb ram; lowering screen resolution and no SD Card slot, there is no way I would upgrade my S20+ to the S21. I'm not even sure one could consider it an upgrade...?
A number of years ago Samsung blundered by not putting an SD Card in the Galaxy S6; they corrected that with the S7 and every model thereafter... that's a huge negative not having expandable storage. But different strokes for different folks... I hope your new phone is everything and more that you expect!
I know what you mean in some sense this essentially is a downgrade. One of the major differences between Apple and Samsung as a company is that Apple's iOS is rock solid, it doesn't need a 12GB ram to perform better. iOS leverages your hardware and manages memory better than their competitors. The thing I'm hoping in the new Samsung S21 is the learnings Samsung would incorporate to make their operating system better even though it'd Android Samsung does a lot of tweaks. Plus, the new processor from Qualcomm together with an better software could get us better experience. Honestly, I'm upgrading because as I mentioned Samsung is extremely generous in their trade-in policy.
Unfortunately for many the downgrades outweigh any minute improvement this offering may provide. Personally if I wanted the Apple experience I would buy an Apple product. That appears to be what Samsung is telling its customers, here is your Apple.

I got my new s21 ultra recently, and was shocked to find the sheer amount of features that I had on my note 9 that were just straight up missing on this new flagship phone. Specifically I was looking forward to the edge lighting and maybe even camera ring light effects, but it seems the ONLY way to have any type of edge lighting is be enabling the brief notifications (which are far less useful, and ugly) and not the larger pop up notifications. The only other way I've seen it in this OS is through bixby routines, where it can be programmed to tasks, but the ring does not fit the screen, and gets cut off (thinks it's a note screen).
Anyways, anyone know if they're gonna bring it back? Goodlock gonna update it finally?
I have a note9, and I had planned on getting s21. thanks for the info. I guess I will wait for the next one then. Anyways, my note9 is still perfect, sturdy as ever.
