How do I personalize text notifications for my contacts?

If you want to assign notification sound for each contact
Open Contact app
Select your contact
Edit
Look for notification

I couldn't adjust custom notifications per contact like iOS even after these recommendations (my contacts were actually already on my phone) but I found you set custom notifications per conversation in the messaging ap

Hey,

I have an older version of the Samsung messages app. On this version we open the conversation with the contacts we want to assign custom notification tones. Once the conversation is open we open the customization menu and select Notification sound. A list of notification tones open and we select the the new tone for that conversation.

In the contacts app we select the contacts, select edit, scroll down and select view more and then scroll down to ringtone.

In the phone app, contacts tab, we open the contact, select the info icon and then follow the same steps as above for the contacts app.

So many great new changes with the versions you're running. They might have added a new setting in the contacts app for custom text message notifications along with the the option for custom ringtones. It really don't know.
