Phone region lock?

Hello, I moved to brazil from japan and Im having trouble with my s21 from japan from using any chip from any carrier in brazil even though my s21 is unlocked.

So, is region lock  a thing? 

Is there anything I can do or I have to buy a new phone?

hmmmm..it shouldn't be a region lock. i live in the USA and have an A72, but from Pakistan. it works for me here.. i would definitely reach out to Samsung about that. it's really strange. sorry about your issue, friend

If you have a unlocked variant go into "other call settings" and change it to your country and hopefully with that and a working Sim you should be ok. I don't remember if the s21 has a e Sim if so you might be able to activate it that way instead of a physical Sim card

If you're getting the S23 in the USA and have SIM cards from two different countries, you will need at least two phones. U/U1 variants of the Galaxy S23 series are US only in terms of SIM and eSIM support, including:
• AT&T
• Metro by T-Mobile
• T-Mobile USA
• US Cellular
• Verizon
• Xfinity Mobile
• eSIM transfers from USA, Germany, and Sweden
• Other carriers/MVNOs from the US and Puerto Rico

Because foreign SIM cards (with the exception of foreign eSIM transfers) are no longer supported on U/U1 variants (even those from mainland China), the only way to use it for international use other than Germany or Sweden is through data roaming (not designed for long-term international use, though). In fact, my mom is bringing me a new Galaxy phone from China within the next two weeks, so that I will be able to use it long-term during a family vacation. We'll see what Samsung says with the Fold 5 and Flip 5.
