I bought this phone for over $1400.00 when it was released, decided to treat myself an upgrade from the aged note 8. I am currently regretting that decision. I wanted an updated phone that took great photos. Store demos seemed great, wide angle phots are good, zoom photos are fine. The main everyday camera is terrible. It is constantly blurry, the edges of any picture taken are soft and blurred, when I take photos of a screen, everything is blurred and soft. I am beyond disappointed. I have reset the phone, the app, deleted everything, followed a few troubleshooting steps from other forums. Nothing has helped. I'm tempted to trade in for an iPhone. There is no film on camera, I took off the aftermarket protected cover, still the same result.

Also, the network of 5G, and 600mhz to have better service is a scam, nothing changed for me. So disappointed

When you say edges, you mean the area not in focus right? As in say the background of a subject? The subject though is still sharp?

Correct the edges around it is a soft and I do realize it's because the background is meant be blurred. The subject may be in focus but not always here's an example.

I think focus enhancer is off in that picture. The subject is well in focus (the center of the can) but of course the can is curved so the edges of the can is blurry. This is a characteristic of the large sensor. If focus enhancer is on, it should switch to the ultra wide camera and keep more things in focus (at the cost of things not looking as good).

Yes that's normal. Wide angle has smaller sensor and wider view so more things stay in focus. Main camera's large sensor means thinner focal plane so only the main subject is in focus. Main camera is better in low light and has more dynamic range.

Recently I bought S21 in the hope of a better camera and image quality or similar one if not the better than my S8, but

What a disappointment my this decision has been.

After testing it many shots and comparing them with my S8, I can say I am totally disappointed with this phone. the main camera (which is supposed to be best) is lacking the details and sharpness, first I thought may be its software or image processing issue but after many trial shots with both S8 and S21 I can see the difference seems to be in the lenses may be or may be not but, its a shame.

The other thing I notice and i suggest you to check as well is that if I take a photo in normal (not pro mode) it will look slightly better than if I take same image from PRO mode. also you can check the jpegs attached with Raw files in pro mode is less size than the jpeg from normal mode.

comparing raw images of S8 and S21 at pixel level (100% zoom) reveals that the sensor is identical but there is some softness and lens blur kind of ghosting in S21's images. while my S8 is amazingly super sharp from corner to corner. I don't understand what is point of spending more money to buy latest phone with lesser image quality than previous ones..
