Could you please add the Auto Select function to Smart Select in the Edge Panel? I'm sure it's not included because it's not a feature that requires the SPen. But with one more feature they both share, what's the harm in adding it? You already have the Smart Select option anyway. It would just be helpful to everyone if that capability were available.
