Unable to make Facebook messenger default SMS

I've gone to the "default app" screen and the only app I can make default is Samsung messaging, before I could use F.B messenger and it combined my Facebook messages and my SMS. Anyone else having this issue and/or found a solution?

Facebook messenger has discontinued sms support I believe

@Hoppy94 Per the message on Facebook's Help center, @Ryan891 is correct. The Help center says: 

As early as September 28, 2023, SMS messages will no longer be available when you update your Messenger app.

For those who are looking for a crossplatform messaging app, I would highly reccomend Signal. It is privacy-respecting and has clients for Windows, Mac and Debian-based Linux operating systems.
