Samsung removed the MST on the new Galaxy's to bring the cost down I believe. I have not tried it yet with my S21 Ultra, but I was bummed out when I read that they're going to take that away from the new line up. So now you can only pay with Samsung Pay where they accept NFC.
Samsung removed the Magnetic Strip thingy that let you use Samsung Pay at any Mag-strip reader terminal, now you have to loog for the Google Pay or Apple Pay (or Samsung Pay) logos to use this feature. This change was implemented in the S21 line FYI.

Anywhere? You should still be able to pay at 99% of places without MST, but you need to enable NFC. That said, the reason to use Samsung Pay vs. Google Pay no longer exists. I much prefer Google Pay.
What's the difference between Samsung Pay and Google Pay? I just like Samsung pay because it puts the card on the bottom which you can just swipe up from and it goes into Samsung Pay.
No MST, no LED, no SD card... Wow, Samsung... Very disappointed after "upgrading" (more like downgrading) to S21 from S9. I used MST in Samsung Pay ALL THE TIME. And it was advertisement for Samsung, when amazed people asked how come I just paid with the phone at a regular CC pay terminal. Bad decisions, Samsung...
