I bought a Galaxy S21 FE 128gb cell phone last month. I really like this phone, except that using wired earbuds during phone calls are very quiet. All volume settings are at the highest setting. People can hear me just fine, but it's hard for me to hear them.
I get the same results with two different wired earbuds (JVC and Skullcandy). FYI I had to buy a USB-C adapter to use these earbuds b/c of the 3mm miniplug.
My phone was bought with Android 12, and it's currently at Android 13 latest version. I double-checked again this morning and I still the current Android 13 version. I read that there is a Samsung USB-C firmware that helps improve quality on USB-C earbuds, so I downloaded and installed it and rebooted my phone (arm64-v8a+arm-v7a for Android 8.0+). This didn't change anything.
What's weird is that youtube volume through my earbuds is nice and loud. Mp3 files played back thru my earbuds are nice and loud. The only thing that is very quiet are phone calls through my earbuds. Again, every volume setting is maxed out. I even went into Sound Quality and Effects / Adapt sound, and tried boosting the volume and set for calls. No change. Equalizer adjustments (up/down/etc) - No change.
In case anybody asks, the volume of the phone speakers when playing videos or making calls (without earbuds) is just fine. The issue of quiet earbuds is only during phone calls. Can anybody help? Thank you!
Omg, I had that problem. So, I bought the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Holy cow what a difference!!! I'll never go back to wired buds again. Also, most ear buds are really uncomfortable for me. These are small, easy to pair and use, has noise cancelling.... they are SO comfy. I suggest investing in a pair of these.
I certainly appreciate the endorsements for the wireless buds, but before I go that route, I'd like to hear from somebody who may have some insight into why my phone is behaving the way it is. I don't believe it is functioning as intended, since my wired earbuds work just fine for everything except phone calls.
I seriously doubt this is by design from Samsung as an attempt to get users to have to get the wireless buds. I'm sure there's got to be something more to this. Again, my wired buds work just fine except during phone calls.
