morning samsung world, since I have had the S21 plus I dont get whatsapp notifications and the option to have them is greyed out on the app itself, is there any reason as to why?

I AM IN GHANA NOW FROM USA. I lost my whatsapp icon, or was deleted in error. I reinstalled it but now I need the sms six digit code to verify my phone number. What should I do to get my whatsapp back? Waiting for an answer, please.
