Galaxy S22Which messaging app are you using? Whichever it is, you should clear the cache and data. Clearing the data will not delete any messages. I don't believe it's the contacts that are scrambled, it's the messaging app. If you call Debra or Jason, do they get their respective calls?

Galaxy S22Clearing the data will not delete messages. It only resets the app settings, so any customizations, such as separate notification sounds for different chats, and certain outdated settings (sometimes updates keep old settings that have been eliminated in new versions of the app) will need to be reconfigured. You can back up the messages you do have by using Smart Switch and backing them up either to the cloud or external device. You can also download SMS Backup & Restore from the play store and back them up. One can never have too many backups.
