Just received a software update, and now my message app keeps crashing.  Anyone else having issues?

Have you attempted to clear the cache or data of the messaging app you're using? If so, kindly try this. With the phone off, press and hold Power and Volume up buttons until the Samsung logo disappears. Using volume keys, highlight Wipe cache partition, then power to select and confirm on the following screen. On the original menu, use volume to navigate to Repair apps, and then power again to select. This will reindex all your apps.

Same here. Updated and now I can't view contacts, send messages or open the phone app.

I cleared the cache and data from the message app, if you can get it to stay open...it seemed to have worked. Just hope you have your contacts backed up via Google.

I experienced the same problem this morning after my phone installed the new software update.  I've just followed your instructions and I still have the same problem. I'm unable to use my phone, text and can't access my contact folder. Samsung created this problem with their recent software update and I haven't seen where they are doing anything to fix this problem.

Same issue here after the update. I cleared cache on the app and it did not help, but am hesitant to clear the data. I also tried wiping the cache partition and repair apps from the recovery console and nothing. Seems like the only thing I am seeing that fixes this is to delete the Contact data. This isn't a "fix" per se. Why is there not a more public acknowledgement from Samsung about the problem it caused?
