Messages keyboard emoji issues after update

Galaxy S22
After the update I noticed the keyboard issue in text messaging. For example, if I type ; ) (added space so it doesn't convert to icon) and then select the icon it keeps the semicolon. So shows as ;😉 instead of just the icon.

Anyone else seeing this behavior and can confirm?
