S21 Trade-in phone stolen after shipping it

So I shipped my s21 ultra back for my $700 credit towards my new s22 ultra and Samsung emails me that they received my box via FedEx but it was "empty".

I talked to someone on support chat and he showed me the unboxing video of my s21 that they received and you can clearly see the box inside was ripped open and phone taken out.
What can I do? I can't afford to pay the $700 they want to charge me, I feel like going to the police if fedex won't help me either.
I feel sick!

File a police report with the imei,tracking information and the video. Also file a report with fed ex since it had to be a fed ex employee

1) So it is either FedEx issue where someone would take the device out before delivering. One thing is interesting is that didn't FedEx driver see that box is ripped during the delivery?!

2) When device was received by Samsung, but before the team got to your box, someone from that company knew what was inside, took advantage of it.

No it appears they opened from bottom, ripped open the s21 ultra box and just shoved it back in and retaped it. My boxes always look brand new, was perfect condition when I sent it back. Video shows it torn open like they didn't know how to get in it or in a big hurry to steal it and reseal shipping box. Surprised they left the packaging inside.
I have the imei number etc but it appears they haven't turned it on yet?
I just don't want to get stuck with the $700. I'm on disability, I can't afford it.
I've been a Samsung user for so long never had an issue before sending phones in til this. I'm literally sick to my stomach.
