Hey everyone,

Hoping someone can shed some light on a weird issue with my S22 (model SM-S901U1)My selfie camera lens got dirt inside, making pictures look bad. So, I bought a replacement front camera module.

Here's the problem:

- If I install a new camera and turn the phone on, the Camera app just says "Camera Failed".

- If I put the original (dirty) camera back in, it works fine (just bad picture quality).

- But if I start the phone with the original camera, let it boot up and then hot-swap in the new camera, the new camera actually works perfectly until I restart the phone

I checked the system logs briefly, and they show errors trying to read the new cameras when the phone boots up, but things look okay with the original one.

It really seems like the phone is somehow "paired" or locked to only accept the exact camera module it came with from the factory.

My guess is that the HAL verifies the camera's serial number and prevents it from initializing if it doesn't match the original, factory-paired module.

Is there any setting, trick, or known fix to make the phone properly recognize a new replacement front camera when it starts up? Or is this something that strictly requires official Samsung service to sort out?

Any help or insights would be really appreciated! Thanks!
