System Update Loop

Installed system update yesterday. No errors. But, after notification that update installed, immediately says UPDATE PENDING and installs the update again. 

Please help. 
Love the phone and no other issues. 
Tried to chat with customer support, but just get errors after I fill out the forms.

Since was of them was errantly marked "resolved" here's a thread for others to post their issues with S22's recent update to UI 7.0 that results in an endless update loop. Install completes, I have new (and bad) UI, but the updates never stop!

The issue for me started on 11/1/25. I went through customer serivce/tech support after 3 days of this update loop. Followed several steps, operating in safe mode, clearing caches. Got to a factory reset which is not ideal and did not go through with it. Showed them the original thread too. Their response "In this case, I suggest you to please wait till the device get update."

This is not a user's responsibility and factory reset should not be the standard operating procedure. It is Samsung's responsibility to repair this issue for its users.

Current software version for s22 is UI8. if you are just now updating to 7, you may be experiencing "stacked updates." meaning you will be prompted to update to every single security patches release in consecutive order until you get caught up.

To bypass these stacked updates, you might be able to connect your device to a PC and run Smart Switch for Mac/Windows to jump straight to the current software version.

If you don't have access to a computer, you can visit a certified samsung repair center and ask them to flash the device for you.

Thanks , and auto update didn't work for many models.  They **bleep** up the code and the updates stacked for months on a variety of models despite the user following approved update procedures. This is inexcusable and not solved on many models. I had to run smart switch 2x to finish the multiple updates, so it's not that easy depending on your device. Jumping some users from 6-8 was a fail.

I noticed the patch date changed from Feb 2025 to March 2025 to April 2025, and you're the first comment to confirm my suspicion that my wife's phone likely hasn't been updated in quite some time and/or the update itself is stacked in a way that this is a good clue as to whats wrong here...

Thanks for some advice. I'll have to test this solution as its better than anything else I've recieved so far.

For context, my phone is on auto update, so I and many other S22 users got the update months late. Also, it's not updating different security patches, but the same one it seems.

I am having the same issue with the update loop. It's essentially rendered my phone useless. 😞

Same issue here since about a week ago. Clearing cache advanced the update a bit, meaning it installed the updated UI and changed some stuff. Still getting notification for an update with a security patch level that is newer than what the phone has (August vs September). The patch appears to install but does not update the security level, even after clearing cache.

This is one of the problems of having so many models to deal with. You are right. It is far from "solved" depending on your model.
