Galaxy S22I was texting with my wife earlier today and some of the messages were recieved on her end from a short code (5 digit number). Some from my number. They all were sent from my phone, in a short span during our conversation. But, its like they were split up. On her phone, they were split up, some came from me, some came from the short code. I haven't changed phones or downloaded any apps recently. Use Samsung messaging as the default app service. I've had this same number on Verizon network for nearly 20 years. We tried sending messages back to the short code. Nothing happened, I didn't recieve them, they didn't text back, no error message. Never heard of anything like this happening before. Can anybody shed light on how this would happen, or point me into the right direction to find some answers?

Galaxy S22Yes, I think so. The short code was received separately. And after looking closer all of my messages sent were recieved from my number, like if you click on my name and look at the messages they are actually all there. Some of them are doubled as well. But then there are also messages from a short code. It's not the entire conversation, just 4 messages(not consecutive), but they are exactly what I had sent to her with the exact same timestamp.
From my phone, everything looks normal, exactly what I typed and sent. Not group chat or anything like that, just normal sms

Galaxy S22This issue should be addressed by your carrier. Usually, they are responsible for solving problems relating to calls and/or texts.

Galaxy S22Spent most of yesterday text chatting with Verizon support. They had no answers. Had us reset the network setting on both phones, ran a device check through my Verizon, had us go through all the standard stuff, restart the device, clear cache, etc. We stopped before the factory reset. He said he doesn't believe it is a problem to do with either handset, but we did all this stuff any way. Now as long as it doesn't happen again, as far as they are concerned problem solved. Little warning for anybody with a galaxy watch doing a network reset: This will forget all network connections, Bluetooth, and wifi passwords. To repair your watch, it needs to be reset and repaired like the first time you put it on. So of you haven't backed up any of your samsung health info, watch faces or anything else, you will lose all of it.
Still didn't answer any questions, nor postulate any theories as to what could have caused this.
But long story short, I think I have something here. During the time that these messages were going to her from both numbers, all of the messages to her phone were being doubled, which I have read can happen due to the network running slow and it times out sends it again while the first one goes thru and you get two messages. The only messages that weren't doubled during this time were the ones that were recieved from the other number. Also looking at the message details, text from me is always listed as chat. But when they are doubled one says chat and the other says text. The non doubled messages from the short code are all listed as text in the details. Surely must be related to network issues I would think. I just don't really understand what happens to all this data once it gets out into space. It's too bad that the tech support is too worried about law suits or whatever to give actual information or theories above and beyond did you try restarting your device, or if a factory reset doesn't eliminate the problem please give us a call and we will try something else.
