Turning off New email notification?

Been monkeying around trying to turn off blue dot with no success. Why do they have to do these subtle questionable changes that I am suspicious of?

I mean with email, New emails come in and the marker used to be orange.
Is this a move to annoy people?

App icon badges are still orange. Can you share a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thanks for raising this problem, I thought I was going mad thinking the dot used to be red, now it's blue. 

Any success changing it back to red?

If you go into settings in the email app and select your email account, scroll down under Account Settings and select "Account name and color" to change the color of the dot.
