Regrettably, the new default battery icon is currently unchangeable. The suggestion is to add the Battery Widget to your Home Screen if the current icon is not readable. We hope that a future update will provide the option to revert to the previous style icon.

Please let developers know this...sucks. the bars and notifications are all like a font size 6 (?). I think even people who aren't vision impaired will have issues with it.
Trust me its been reported 100's of times that it needs reverted back to the old style
