Workaround for Samsung messenger?

Does anyone know of a modded or alternative version of the stock messenger that comes with Samsung?? I'm really annoyed about the fact that I can't participate in RCS chat reactions, etc. because I purchased my phone unlocked. My carrier told me that certain features and functions are carrier-specific and aren't "compatible" with phones purchased outside of the carrier network, including RCS features. They said my option would be to purchase the phone THROUGH THEM and trade in the unlocked one, and I'm not going through all of that.
I am wondering if I can side-load some other version so I can have those features?

And I really want to avoid using Google messenger as it has zero customization options.

You can download message by Google in playstore, that's works really great.

...... I said in my original post that I want to avoid Google Messenger. Because of various groups and specialized contacts, I need the customization options.

Google Messages will be your best option. While some carriers do support a form of RCS in Samsung Messages, the experience will be very hit or miss and does not include the ability to add reactions. If you're on the S22 line, Android Messages looks very similar to Samsung Messages with so much more to offer.

Textra is working for me including the RCS reactions function, and Textra is famous for its customization options. My S22 is carrier-locked from Xfinity, but I don't think that would have the same implications as the Samsung Messages app. It is worth a try.

Verizon has nothing to do with it, I have Verizon with an unlocked s22 ultra and I use Google messaging and have had RCS for years with no problems

I'm referring to Samsung messenger, but ironically, it is only with a very recent update to my Google Messenger that I have the RCS feature. I really do not want to use Google Messenger because of its lack of customization.
