"Recents" button doesn't always work after upgrade to OneUI 5.1

I have noticed that the Recents button on the Navigation Bar doesn't always work after I upgraded to OneUI 5.1 (SM-S901U1; firmware CWAI).

When I press it, I get tactile feedback, but the screen doesn't go to Recents.  The workaround is to press the Home button, and THEN press Recents again, and it will work fine.

The problem is intermittent.

I tried clearing the system cache, but that didn't help.  I also reinstalled the firmware (using HOME_CSC) and that didn't help either.  I am unwilling to try a factory reset.

Does anyone know of a cause or a fix?

Weird. Maybe try using gestures and see if it works and then back to 3 nav

Please see my response to the prior reply.  The issue is with the recents *display* hanging, not with the method of triggering it (3 nav vs. Gestures).

That's indeed strange. Possibly a software glitch on your phone which is annoying and inconvenient. I wish I could be of more help

After your response, I decided to post the issue in the S22 forum on Reddit.  Another user confirmed that he was having the same experience though, until he read my post, he assumed that it was a problem with the launcher.

His validation will spare me trying to do crazy things to attempt to isolate the cause.  I will wait for the next firmware build and hope for the best.

Switch to gestures, so much better!

When the Recents button hangs in 3 Nav, gestures won't open recents either.  So the issue is with the recents *display* hanging, not with the method of triggering it.

My recents button is doing the same thing since the one ui 5.1 update. I really hope Samsung figures out a fix asap.

Having the same issue, first I thought it was my Nova launcher, but it's on stock also. I have the S22 Ultra

Update: I installed the March security update (CWB7) today. Unfortunately, it does NOT fix the "Recents" button; its ability to invoke the list of recently-used apps remains intermittent.
