I just opened my phone and realized Samsung wants us to switch to Google messages. I am not ok with this. This is a dumb idea. Google messages did not work well when I 1st bought my phone and I'm sure it doesn't work any better now. Please let us keep the option for Samsung messages. I'm sure many Samsung users feel the same way.

This will be my last Samsung phone, tired of them turning everything over to Google for one, and tired of them talking away everything that made them great, probably going to get a crappy iPhone next to around considering that if you are going to take away everything that makes it better than apple I might as well get an apple, my first Samsung was the s1 I'm on the s25 ultra and it will be my last

The Google messages app is extremely awkward to use. Deletion of multiple messages is not possible.

Yes it is.  Long press the first message you want to delete, then tap each subsequent message until you are done.  These will be permanently deleted and bypass the trash, while deleting entire chats will end up in trash for 30 days.  You would also delete multiple chats the same way - long press the first one and tap each subsequent one.

Just got my new Samsung s26ultra and for some reason I'm not getting notifications when I get texts. No number on the badge and no notification symbol on the top status bar. I have set all of the apps that I want to receive notifications from and obviously set it for messages. Indicated how I want the notifications to be displayed on locked and unlocked screen. Turned the phone off and then on, did a restart and still nothing. Anyone have any solutions other than throwing the phone in the garbage? Lol

Do you have notification categories turned on?  You can clear the cache and data from the messaging app.  If you clear the data, you will have to reconfigure all your app settings, but your messages will be untouched.

Another one!
Samsung keep the messages app please. Google messages has almost 0 customization. Trying to switch over, the "change colors" on Google messages doesn't show up even half the time when I want to customize. And I mean for the same individuals; decided I didn't like the color but setting disappeared.

On Samsung we can choose the color, font, and background. Google can't even manage to let us change the color.
