After having the brand new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for over a week, I wanted to share my experience and thoughts on the latest flagship, which is the best of it's kind. I was fortunate enough to attend a Samsung launch event in L.A. and got first hands on with this new device the day it was revealed.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra - Ultra Evolved
To start, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is available for pre-order and can be purchased directly from Samsung here: S23 Ultra | Order Yours. The price of the S23 Ultra is a bit high at $1379.99 but can be purchased as low as $199.99 with eligible trade-in.

While the Galaxy S23 Ultra might look like last years flagship, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, don't be fooled! Samsung managed to beef up the power and efficiency of this device with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy and bumped up the physical RAM to 12GB on the 512GB and 1TB models. Ultra has never been more Ultra than now!
Next for me was the camera. I began by taking photos, not only on auto mode but also in RAW format using Expert RAW. I was especially blown away with how great the camera works in dark environments. I love going for night time walks on a mountainside trail and couldn't believe the power the camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra possessed. Speaking of camera's, the S23 Ultra comes equip with a total of 5 of them. On the front side, we get a 12MP selfie camera. Over on the back side of the phone is where the real magic happens. Top to bottom, we have a 12MP Ultra-wide lens, 200MP (woah!!) Wide angle lens, 10MP (10X Optical zoom) Telephoto lens followed by a second 10MP (3X Optical zoom) Telephoto lens on the bottom right side of the camera module.
When it comes to software, Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 line with Android 13 and the newest version of of their skin, One UI 5.1. One UI 5.1 brings many optimizations over the previous version and is even smarter than ever! My favorite new feature is within the Gallery app, being able to extract objects from a photo and either send the object as a sticker in a messaging app or save that object to your gallery sans the background. Overall, I think Samsung did a great job with the Galaxy S23 Ultra. While it visually can be confused with last years Galaxy S22 Ultra, there are some internal changes that make a big difference in my opinion. You get a more powerful and efficient processor, a flatter display that still retains the iconic curve, better camera performance, more RAM (for 512GB+ models) and more. I upgraded from the Galaxy S22 Ultra and found this upgrade to be worth my time and money.
