Messages do not show up on dark screen

I have a s23+ and although I have it set to show up, my Google message s does not post to the dark screen when the screen is off. Several of the other apps do post but most don't. I been using my phone for so long that I thought it was normal for Samsung but I admit I am jealous of many lessor phones that do post. Any thoughts?

What do you mean by "post?" Are you talking about notifications?

Yes I mean the notifications. They only show up in the pull down screen

Hmm. When my screen is off I get the alert tone and notification tab thing for like a second that for Google messages i dint use other messages app so could vary on those

I don't mean other messenger apps, I mean other Apps that send notifications

Unless you have the AOD on, I don't believe the notifications show on the black screen. They would show on the lock screen, as long as you have that setting on.

Nope, sorry for the nomenclature errors but I think I do mean the 'lock screen'. Also I'm not sure what AOD IS?

The black screen is the screen you get when the phone locks - it's a privacy screen and prevents accidental touches from activating your screen.  The lock screen is the screen  you get with wallpaper that you slide up to enter your password.  The AOD is the always on display, which usually just shows your clock, unless you add something else.  You can set it to display all the time, on a schedule, tap to show or to show only when new notifications come in.
