How do I get my starred messages not to delete and save

Are you using samsungs app or Google

Yes it is. It let's me star them but them it still deletes them

Try looking in your Google account they get backup there sometimes also turn off the option to delete messages after a specific number of days in the app

I tried that and for some reason the toggle won't move on the option to turn it off. Can I go back to the old version of messaging that I had on my previous phone?
