if I switch from Verizon Message app to Samsung message app will all 4 years of my messages migrate to the Samsung message app including photos that were sent with the text messages?   Verizon  message app is being discontinued Nov 7 and I want to save my messages.   I tried using Smart Switch to save them to my computer but apparently it doesn't save messages from Verizon Message+ app because they didn't save to my computer.   Some people said Google Messages only saved 90 days of their messages and I don't have any cloud storage of any kind.

Thanks so much everyone.   I ended up backing all my messages up with SMS Backup and Restore that Robin and Cosmic Ray recommended for safety.    But I took a leap of faith and switched my default message app to Google messages and they all switched over fine.  However I never found out if SMS Backup and Restore can restore messages that were copied from Verizon Message + into a different message app (Google Messages) because I didn't test that.   If anyone did that and it worked let me know.  Thanks again!!

I don't know anything about Verizon but I've tried many different messaging apps and I've never lost anything

Yes but you should switch to Google Messaging since Verizon is shutting down Verizon messages and Samsung is slowing doing away with Samsung messaging in favor of Google Messaging

Does anyone know why some people switching to Google Message app only got 90 days of their messages transferred?  I just want to be safe and not lose any messages.  Is there a way to back them up and then put them back in in the event only 90 days worth are showing up in Google messages or Samsung message app - whichever I decide to use?

Worse case you can use the SMS Backup app in the Play Store to backup all your messages, just in case.

Ok.  That looks like a good app according to most reviews.  Could you clarify if it backs the messages up on the phone and can put them back into a different message app on the same phone?  Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out.

In other words,  can I backup my messages that are in the Verizon Message+ app onto my phone and then restore them into a DIFFERENT MESSAGE APP such as the Samsung Messsage app on the same phone? Or can they only be put back into the message app that they were in when the backup was made?
