I'm trying to set up my old s23 Ultra for my mother and after I factory reset everything it appears that a lot of the apps that I had on the phone prior to the big update are no longer available. One of the main apps that I am trying to get back are the Samsung messages but I guess it's no longer available on Samsung s23 but somehow available on my s25? Make it make sense Samsung!!! What is going on with you?! Why are you becoming the enemy after we have supported you for so long š„² now I regret factory resetting my phone because I could have kept those apps. Now I'm going to have to try to find a APK š Samsung has to listen to all the complaints about all the updates!!!!! PLEASE!

Galaxy S23@zhyxgg Doing a factory reset removes all 3rd party apps and all user data. It has nothing to do with an update.
You should be able to find Samsung Messages in the Samsung Galaxy store.

Galaxy S23It's a messaging app. Any messaging app will send/receive texts. If you can't find Samsung Messages, use Google Messages as is being pushed anyway and has the only RCS standard the carriers are allowing. There is no learning curve, open it up, send/read texts. Samsung was allowing Samsung Messages to die, but they brought back a version of it specifically for the S25 when they reached an agreement with Google to use their RCS technology, now they may bring it back for other devices, but I wouldn't hold my breath. If the app on your S25 is not compatible with the phone you are trying to put it on, then you cannot make it compatible. You can possibly find a compatible older version on APK mirror, but you won't have RCS functionality.
