My phone is the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Model SM-S918U. I'm having problems with the Samsung Gallery App Version 15.7.00.43 that I use to store photographs taken on this camera.
The first problem is that when I select a photograph to move to a different folder on the phone, the app simply copies the photograph to the new folder while leaving a copy of the photograph in the original folder. This is the same result I get when I tell the app to copy the photograph. How can I get the move option to move the photograph without leaving a copy in the original folder?
My second problem with the Samsung Gallery App Version 15.7.00.43 is that I cannot fully close the App.
I've tried the regular way to close an App, I restarted the phone, and I turned the phone off. In each case, the App remained open.
Any suggestions as to what I can try that would enable me to close the Samsung Gallery App for photograph storage?

Galaxy S23What do you mean the app remains open? You mean on the recent apps list? Just swipe it away and it's closed.

Galaxy S23@Harold-Babs I'm guessing you are talking about the Gallery app not the Galaxy app.
Are you looking at the Recent album? The recent album is NOT a real album. It is showing you the result of images determined by a Samsung algorithm to be recent. It is just a VIEW of the "Recent" photos in all albums.
Click on a photo in the Recent album and swipe up. It will show you a path name which will show you which album the photo actually resides.
Moving a photo does move a photo. But it will still be shown in the Recent album.
Be aware that if you delete a photo from the Recent album, if will be deleted from the album where it really exists and it will be deleted from your device.

Galaxy S23LongHiker, very interesting about the Recents album. Is that a recent (haha) change? Because I'm pretty sure that album always showed the most current pics, in chron order.
I'm just now noticing it's different, as I try to add a photo to a new contact in a 3rd party dialer/contacts app named True Phone. The Gallery, when accessed, does not show my most recent pics in chron-order, Instead it looks like it accesses a "Media Cloud" and shows random photos I took, in no particular order and some not recent at all.
Can you tell me where I can get more info on (what you said) the Samsung algorithm? I want to know if I have options. Thank you jolly much.

Galaxy S23@katrax No the Recents folder has been part of the Gallery for quite a while.
Samsung has provided no information on the algorithm that they are using.
