I just got 7. See if some of these fixes will work for you. 

1. Call background gone

App drawer>phone>3 dots right side>settings>call background>click background button bottom of screen>pick

2. Can't delete timer event

Select clock 

Select alarm

Click AND hold event

All events will be shown with selection dots beside each. 

Click event button or click All

Press delete on bottom of screen

3. Battery meter on top of screen

Eh. Get use to it i guess. 

4. Battery discharging rapidly. 

It's a new OS. Your phone has a whole new system. Give it time. It's still updating apps, shuffling data, rearranging everything. Give it a couple of days. 

5. Fonts too small

Make fonts bigger. Settings>display>font size and style>change your font style and size. (Bigger) 

6. No sounds for alarm(s)

Clock>alarm>tap event>event sound

Other than get use to it and adapt. There is no backup on the OS.

You can't make the clock font bigger anymore except for the lock screen clock.Clock is now only resizable on\for the lock screen. The clock on any home screen now only resizes the widget borders and will not change font size. The font size is too small.

Brad, this was perfect, thanks for the simplified tips.  Did not make me feel stupid and condescending.  I tried all the tips you left and they work.  Thanks again.  Too bad there is no fix for the home screen clock font size widget.  I had mine so I  could see the weather and clock together, now, so small not even a new born baby with super human eyesight can see it.  Where is Clark Kent when you need him.

I just tried something that MIGHT work. Run the clock widget. Move it to the screen right under the other clock. Resize it until it's 1x1 or 1x2. The only bad thing it'd be only on the home page. But... who knows. Might work for you.
Edit: or put it in the tool bar at the bottom. It'd be on all pages then
