S23+ and since the last update, when I turn volume down, it stops at vibrate, and I want that to go all the way to mute.

I realize I can do the drag down menu and mute it there, but I just want my volume buttons to do this, the way it used to before the last big "AI" b.s. update.

I keep researching but it says a lot of bunk about routines, or starting in safe mode. I'm not that smart!

Please help me, and seriously, explain it to me like I'm 10 years old.

I'm unsure when this problem began but it had to of been no more than a few weeks ago. I use to be able to hold the up-and-down volume buttons and my ringtone volume would go up or down steadily. Now if I press the up-and-down buttons, nothing happens unless I tap them. Then the accessibility volume goes up-and-down one step/tap at a time. Nothing goes up-and-down smoothly unless I have my screen turned off, and then the volume seems to go up-and-down smoothly on media, but only if my screen is turned off. If my screen is on media volume will go up/down only if I tap the buttons. Was the latest Samsung December Security Patch the cause of this? I ran a Samsung diagnostic test and the buttons show no input. ๐Ÿคจ

Not aware of the December update causing this issue i would take to a repair center and get checked the buttons seem to be having a problem

I do not believe it is hardware related. The odds of both buttons failing at the exact same time are crazy.

You would be the first one I seen reporting this and don't recall ever any update that did as you stated

There's always a first. I want to rule out what I can before going to a repair center

They're not actually two different buttons. It's one rocker button, so it's quite possible that it could fail. The on-device diagnostic showed issues, so further testing is warranted. You should take the phone to a repair center, as @meself already advised.

I didn't know it was one button. So I'll do that as soon as my schedule permits but trying everything else until then

Maybe trying a can of burst air to see if there is any dust stuck in there preventing the buttons being pressed. Mostly likely it sounds like a hardware issue

I will let a service center check it out but I still don't think it's hardware related. Why would the buttons work properly only when the screen is off? Doesn't make sense.
