Camera is lagging out of nowhere after the unauthorized android update that just happened.
I press the shutter button, either from the center button or the volume rocker, and it lags to take a photo sometimes missing important moments entirely and not taking any photo at all...
I'll keep pressing it and it'll take 1 photo for every 4 presses instead of at every press. It's crazy.
On top of absolutely poor quality photos, terrible pixelated digital zoom, and no ability for manual focus on one's own accord. Is there any hope,
I said I didn't want the update, my phone turned off and it updated it without notification and against authorization. Other users report same experience. They've been doing this forever and it's insane. Hoping to at least/start with info about the camera because key moments unfortunately are missed due to it
Hello a72, welcome to the Samsung Community! I understand your concerns with your device camera lagging after the recent update.
First try clearing your device cache partition: power off your device, hold the power and volume up buttons simultaneously, when the Samsung logo appears, release the volume up buttons and the recovery mode menu should appear, select clear cache partition and reboot the device as normal. Reset your camera settings: open camera app, select settings menu, tap reset settings
A third party app could be causing your camera to lag. You can check with Safe mode: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10003495/ If the device functions without the lag in Safe mode, uninstall third-party apps until the lag is gone when not in Safe mode.
Unauthorized update? Don't make me laugh. All updates are authorized, as you agreed to the TOS (read them, they are in the about phone/legal information section of your settings). Those TOS say that Samsung has the right to change their software in any manner at any time with or without notice. You purchased your phone knowing it had an update cycle, so anything that Samsung/Google does with the software after you agree to the TOS and put your phone into service is an authorized action.
In terms of fixing the camera I can only speak in terms of to S25U but there probably isn't much difference if you have a patched to date S24. There's a camera option for delayed shutter, can't think why the update would enable it but that isn't important. In default Photo mode if you press the four square button to see the menu, one of the first few icons is a circle with an arrow from the center. Make sure it isn't yellow. If it is press it and select the leftmost option for no delayed shutter. The feature can be useful for lots of purposes, e.g. to view the screen with a back camera selected, click the shutter button and move round into the scene before the picture is taken.
Hello. Unfortunately it seems no such setting was ever enabled. It was a good idea, though. Thank you. ven trying to click through the settings is lagging, too...like I'll click the settings and it wont respond until many, many seconds later. Scrolling through, same thing unfortunately. 😕
I agree with the perceived lag in the camera. Perhaps it's from the addition of the motion pictures thing. Id like to be able to take a simple picture and get a regular shutter sound instead of a delayed beep.
