Pictures are being removed after updating contact pictures

Why are pictures being removed after updating contact pictures. I've edited 2 contacts since the new update, but once a week I have to keep editing for the pictures to stay.

There is an option for 2 pictures, the background picture and the contact picture. The contact picture keeps going to just the first initial. I go back to edit and the contact picture is completely gone and I have to add a new one.

Do those contacts have Samsung devices? If so, they may need to set up their own Profile Card in their contact settings, as your device could be resetting when they contact you with an unfinished profile.

Could also be an issue with syncing and merging contacts, both of which you can adjust in contact settings.

The 2 that it keeps doing it to have iPhone. But one contact have been in my phone for 3 years the other is more recent but its only the 2 of theirs that it happens to. Thank you I will try the syncing and merging.

In my case, the contacts losing their photos are associated with services like the Virginia Lottery. I added a contact for the number they use to communicate winning lottery numbers and other notifications and that number doesn't support RCS. I've never had any issues like this until a month or so ago. Now, I've had to add the same contact photo to that entry four times in a month.

This only happens with one other contact and that's it. The hundreds of others I maintain don't have this problem. I will also check the sync settings, clear the app's cache, and perform the recommended troubleshooting to see if that makes a difference. I'm not holding out hope it will work, though.

I'm also experiencing this -- one contact has reset twice so far, on the night of december 31/january 1 and then just a few minutes ago, almost exactly a week apart. The contact picture had been set for months before that with no issues.

Is there any update on this? All of my contact photos have now been deleted twice.

As of now no, I haven't had the problem again yet. I just re added the pictures and restarted my phone afterwards
